It’s out!

New Missions

Ten new missions have been added to the list. All of them are rated HD; the corresponding unlocks for these missions are SP charts and a new Technical course.

New Courses

Cotton Candy Set: “Easy Performance”. Does not need to be unlocked.
Consists of To You PP/Closer PP/Motion TP/Voyage TP/Oblivion PP/Here in the Moment TP/Miles PP.
Boss Song: Dear My Lady PP.
EX Boss Song: The Night Stage TP (!!!!!!).

Conqueror Set: “Maniac Performance”. Does need to be unlocked.
Consists of Electronics TP/Come to Me TP/Sin TP/Son of Sun TP/End of the Moonlight TP/Fermion SP
Boss Song: Landscape SP (!).
EX Boss Song: Blythe TP (!).
??? Boss Song: Thor TP.

Randomizer Set: “Various Performance”. Does not need to be unlocked.
Consists of a bunch of random songs.

New Charts

New Features

Finally, the UI for the online Platinum Crew site recieved a slight overhaul:

• Experience Point Bar: No more guessing how much you need to play to get to the next level!
• Mission Listing Overhaul: For any mission, a player’s grade is now shown in a pretty “card” of sorts that shows grade, score, and ranking.
  
• Runners-Up: The top three ranking players on all active ranking pages are now shown in a row at the top, and look a bit slicker than before.
• Card Recovery System: Did you lose your card? Transfer it to a new one (but for 5,000 won – which is about ~$4 USD).

Everyone and their mother knows about Oprah’s free Kentucky Grilled Chicken deal that it’s just getting to become more and more amusing with every day that passes.

I walk into my own local KFC to see whether or not the coupon would actually work by itself (I saw no catches, so I was really, really curious) and at the counter, two cashiers are folding up a handful of papers just like mine.

So I go up to them, and ask, “So, you’re accepting these?”

They reply, “Yes, we accept them.”

While ordering my own two-piece meal, I hear from the cashier about how everyone who walked into the restaurant that day hadn’t had a coupon (which was, of course, not surprising). On top of that, apparently there was a family who came in and tossed the cashier eight coupons – to which the cashier, at first, refused, until she saw that there was a huge line. (Huge lines are apparently common; one of my friends also passed by a KFC and reported one helluva line.)

As she finishes ringing me up, a middle-aged Asian man comes in with the coupon. The cashier asks, “You want one too?” The Asian man cracks a grin on his face: “Of course, free!” By that time, I had been handed the bag with my meal to go, and wishing them a good day, I open up the door to head home, and in come three more people with coupons (the last one had two).

I think perhaps this takes the cake for best (and worst) promo ever – not because of the chicken (the chicken’s certainly tasty, but not as tasty as their mainstay, and, on top of that, they seem smaller than their fried varieties), but because of its entertainment value.

The Dragonball Evolution trailer is, to be honest, quite well-done. It’s certainly not Dragonball as I know it, but the trailer seems okay thus far.

The best part, though, has to be cue 1:15, where someone gets kicked in the face in slow motion for no reason whatsoever.

So, in Japan, Bandai is coming out with this thing called a Gun O’Clock – an alarm clock that requires you to shoot a pop-up target with an included laser gun to turn it off. A handful of replies to an Engadget post say it’s been done before.

However, the promotional video plays so heavily off of the Japanese stereotype that most if not all Americans exercise the right to bear arms that it’s hilarious. One, it’s in cute Engrish; two, the patterns in the background mix the American and Japanese flags; and three, the guy appears to get so irked at his alarm clock, he has to shoot it down with a (laser) gun.

Man, those wacky Japanese. I’m still waiting for Konami to release something that forces me to play a game of pop’n music when I wake up. Until then, I’m relying on my trusty four-timer MIDI’d out Vana’diel clock.
